Between Lago and Torrecchia – Rome SeriesCreated for a public collection in Rome, Between Lago and Torrecchia forms part of my ongoing Rome Series, a body of work responding to place through atmosphere, structure and tone.This aquatint etching is striking in its contrasts, using layered tonal areas to suggest distance, light and a sense of shifting terrain. Rather than focusing on strongly defined detail, the image leans into mood and suggestion — allowing the etched surface to hold ambiguity, space and quiet tension.The aquatint process plays an important role here, building depth through subtle gradations and darker passages. The work sits somewhere between landscape and memory: not a direct depiction, but an impression of travelling through the edges of Rome, where the built environment and the natural world meet.Although different in character from some of my more sharply featured works, this piece remains an important part of the series — a moment of pause and atmosphere within the wider visual language of the collection.
