The architecture recedes into shadow while the illuminated surface becomes the focus — a grid of floorboards and reflections transformed into pattern and atmosphere.The image is built almost entirely through tone. Photogravure allows for deep blacks and subtle greys, with highlights lifted delicately from the plate. The result is soft-edged yet powerful, capturing the way light behaves in large interior spaces — diffused, suspended, and fleeting.There is a stillness here, as though the factory is empty and waiting. The machinery and structure remain, but the presence is carried by light alone. The beam becomes both subject and gesture, shaping the space and drawing the viewer inward.This series reflects an interest in industrial interiors not as sites of labour, but as places of mood — where wet floors, window light, and quiet architecture create unexpected beauty.
